Repair rotted window frame interior near me

Many modern people want to make their homes as environmentally friendly as possible and are in no hurry to replace the usual wooden windows with new plastic. And it is not surprising because wood is considered a valuable natural material with many advantages. One of its main advantages is the possibility of repair. Restoration of wooden windows is not easy, but it is pretty solvable. Moreover, it makes it possible to give the old construction a look of a brand new product.

Transom window replacement

Restoration of wooden windows with your hands allows you to save the budget and ennoble the decrepit window construction. However, before starting the repair, it is necessary to consider the "life" of the material from which the frames are made. Larch and pine can serve less than 35 years, oak and beech - over half a century. Ideal door installation

Restoration of wooden windows is unlikely to lead to the desired result if:

  • The structure of the wood is so loose that heavy dents occur when pressure is applied;
  • There is complete loosening of the window frames in the openings;
  • Large dark stains can be seen under the paint, usually indicating decay;
  • Edges are bent or badly deformed;
  • Wooden windows are very severely damaged (e.g., cracked frames).

Restoration of old wooden windows is usually carried out by the "Swedish" system, which allows you to combine repair and insulation of the window construction. You will need a detailed list of tools for the work:

  • A planer for shaping and deburring grooves, rebates, and sharpening;
  • Several chisels 4-30 mm wide;
  • Saw tape thickness of 0,3 mm, and width - 4-6 mm;
  • A flat knife (shoemaker's knife);
  • Carpenter's angle;
  • Core drill on wood (8-10 mm in inner diameter);
  • Level and plumb line.

For qualitative restoration of the construction, it is necessary to have special tools

  • About 300 grams of "liquid nails;
  • Olifa;
  • 0.5 kg of wood filler or 0.5 kg of fine sawdust;
  • Zinc or thick titanium whitewash;
  • Kerosene;
  • Brushes;
  • Nails (500 grams of small and 60-80 mm);
  • Sandpaper;
  • Plywood or board a little larger than the size of the window frame;
  • A plastic bag with a width of 0.5 m and a depth of 1.7 m;
  • Pieces of water-repellent plywood 1-1.5 mm in section;
  • Silicone-based aquarium glue - 10-20 ml.

A plastic bag and kerosene are not helpful if you use a factory-made hair dryer. In addition, it is not recommended to use deep penetrating polymer putties on wood in water, as they will significantly increase the thermal conductivity of wood parts.

Exterior window trim replacement

It is better to begin the repair of wooden windows with your own hands in warm, not humid weather. The recommended humidity is 40-65%. With the onset of inclement weather, window openings should be covered with waterproof material temporarily.

Repair of wood windows begins with inspection and testing the insulating glass unit. Next, it is necessary to remove the sashes, remove the staples or remove the caulk, and remove the glass.  Window replacement how to

Repair begins with inspecting the frame surface and removing the old caulk.

Dismantle the hardware (a new one will be installed in its place). Then, carefully remove the exterior wooden sills, fasteners, and iron corners.

Windows restoration should be started only after all wooden parts have thoroughly dried.

You can clean the old-style windows the paint can be several methods.

Removal of the coating should be made carefully and carefully. Removing the glass in advance is recommended, as they may crack if hot air is directed.

The recommended temperature of the hair dryer is 250 0C. At higher rates, the wood will char and lose its characteristics. When heated, the paint will begin to bubble and can easily be removed with a professional knife or masticatory knife.

The most effective method of removing paint is considered the use of a construction hair dryer.

Old wooden windows will not withstand the aggressive effects of solvents or solvents, so only kerosene should be used to remove paint:

  • Wrap the wooden frame with a cloth and put it in a plastic container;
  • Soak the cloth well with kerosene, close the container and leave it for a couple of days;
  • Take out the strips one by one and remove the paint. If you take out all the parts at once, the kerosene will evaporate, the color will harden again and stop peeling;
  • Remove the remains of the paint coating with emery or grinder.

As a chemical solvent, it is recommended to use kerosene

A rotten section of the frame can be replaced or restored. Restoration requires epoxy wood putty. The damaged area needs to be free of paint and remove the trash. Then apply putty, carefully filling in all recesses and cracks. Form the missing part. It should be slightly larger than the required size, as the excess will be removed during subsequent sanding.

The defect is repaired with putty if the rotten section cannot be replaced.

Leave the frame to dry for at least a day. Then, grind the repaired area with emery or grinder.

It is worth understanding that this repair of old wooden windows helps restore the appearance but does not provide the necessary reliability, especially in areas of active use. But on a deaf or seldom-used window, this method will allow you to restore the construction without a radical replacement.

Before this operation, it is necessary to identify cracks, chips, and other defects of wooden windows, mark them with a marker, and treat them with sandpaper. Then cover the marked places with latex or oil putty. The work is carried out with a rubber putty knife, immediately removing the excess material. If necessary, apply a second one after drying the first layer. Finally, the wooden surface is treated with fine-grained sandpaper. The primer is used in two layers.

To ensure that the renovated old and Soviet windows will last as long as possible, they must be covered with olive oil. It will block the development of new germs of rot and, if possible, restore the decrepit wood structure.

Coating with olive oil will prolong the window frame's life and prevent rot formation.

Olifa has applied with a brush in 3-4 layers: the next - after the absolute absorption and drying of the previous one. Such processing will last 2-3 years (until the next repair). Impregnation for many decades is carried out in a piece of iron pipe thickness of 10-12 cm, sealed at one end. All activities should be carried out only outdoors, away from residential buildings.

Install the pipe at an angle of 300, fill it to ¾ of the olive, and heat from below with hot air from a hairdryer or an electric stove. As the temperature rises, the olive will begin swell, releasing moisture and air. If the smell intensifies sharply, you must move the heater and wait for a little. Impregnation begins after the bubbles disappear:

  • Prepare a sharp iron hook 5-6 mm thick;
  • Place the piece in the tube and press it with the hook for 4-5 minutes;
  • Hook the bar with the tip of the hook, take it out, and lay it to dry;
  • It is forbidden to touch the parts with your hands (even with gloves), as the temperature of red-hot olive exceeds 130 degrees.

Such treatment can extend the life of wooden window frames for more than 100 years, and if they are coated with an oil composition, repainting will not be needed before 15 years.

The prepared sashes are placed on the board and carefully aligned rectangularly. Particular attention should be paid to the strap details: a 1 mm difference in the diagonals will provide a gap of 0.7 mm.

The aligned area is fixed with glue or nails, carefully driving them into the panel near the sash. Next, look through the old dowels ("chops").

While assembling the sashes, it is necessary to observe the rectangularity precisely.

Drill them in the corner middle using a giant diameter drill. If any of the dowels are moved to one side, it is necessary:

  • Secure it along the border with a few drops of "Super Glue";
  • Drill the correct location;
  • Pull a saw band through the gaps between the fixing whiskers and re-saw the old dowel.

After all the corners are assembled, you should have a relatively rigid structure. Now you can take the frame and install the sashes in it. They will sit more tightly if you glue plywood strips of appropriate width and thickness to the edge.

Lay all parts on the aligned canvas and put a weight on it (about 100 kg). Leave to dry and level for 2-3 days.

Quality repair of wooden double-glazed windows includes their insulation, which allows you to reduce the house's heat loss significantly. You can insulate windows with your own hands in several ways:

  • Silicone sealants;
  • Special paper;
  • Fabric strips;
  • Tubular profiles;
  • Heat Saving Film;
  • Seal in the frame sashes.

The last two methods are considered the most effective. First, the joints of the sashes and panes are coated with silicone sealant. Then they took a cutter and saw a 5 mm depression around the perimeter of the strap at an angle of 450. Clean it from shavings. Consistently pressed, but do not stretch in the resulting groove PVC seal.

At the restoration of a design, the obligatory stage is the insulation of a window frame.

Most often, the repair and restoration of wooden windows end with painting. For this purpose, it is recommended to use memorable compositions that are well resistant to temperature changes and the effects of precipitation: oil paints, acrylic, and alkyd enamels.

The coating should be applied in 2-3 layers.

Covering the windows with two to three layers of paint is desirable, diluting it as it finishes. The optimum thickness will allow you to create an even, non-stripping layer. Initially, it is better to work with more liquid paint. Do not try to cover all visible defects on wooden windows at once, as the bulk of the initial layer will be absorbed anyway. The second coat is applied only after the first one is completely dry.

It is desirable to paint the window frame with the windows taken out. This will allow you to skip the unpleasant procedure of removing the smudges. But if the panes of glass were not taken out, you can use a special masking tape glued against the frame to protect them.

The restoration of wooden double-glazed windows ends with the installation of glass. The procedure consists of several steps:

  • Under the inner corners of the frame, squeeze out some aquarium silicone glue;
  • Insert the glass panes and secure them with nails;
  • Remove any drips of cement with a cloth soaked in vinegar;
  • Do not wholly scrape off the silicone from the fasteners: it will protect them from rust;
  • After the glue hardens, secure the glass with a putty (chalk + olive oil) or pre-treated glazing bars.

It is necessary to fix the glass in the window frame properly

Repair of wooden windows with double-glazed windows is not too difficult. Fundamental problems can be easily eliminated with your own hands. The skillful combination of ancient restoration technology and modern materials can work wonders. A little patience and yesterday's shabby window will get a new, restored look, preserving all the valuable properties of wood.

Even the highest quality synthetic material can not replace natural wood. It is safe and attractive. Wooden windows in many apartments are many years old, and their owners are in no hurry to replace them with PVC frames and double-glazed windows. Why? Because the wood windows do not interfere with air exchange, a comfortable microclimate is maintained in the room, which not everyone is ready to give up in favor of airtight plastic. In addition, replacing windows involves large-scale repair work, including installing new frames and window sills and refining exterior and interior soffits. This is a significant financial outlay.

To save time and money, you can give new life to old windows. Wood is perfectly amenable to repair. You can restore with your own hands both appearance and functionality.

Unfortunately, repairs are not always possible. However, replacing the window is the only solution if it is completely broken.

In what cases, however, the window will have to be dismantled and thrown away:

  • The frame crumbles. Most often, it happens in the lower part of the window, where condensation accumulates;
  • The geometry of the window is badly disturbed. If it cannot be corrected without removing the frame, it is better to replace the frames;
  • The window is too fragile. Thin bindings between the panes may not be able to withstand mechanical impacts. Given that you will need to peel off layers of paint from the frame and thus apply force, it is not worth wasting time on the restoration and immediately disposing of the window.

You can replace the window not only with the popular plastic one but also with a wooden one. Such products are a little more expensive and functionally almost the same as PVC windows, as they are equipped with modern fittings and double-glazed windows.

What can be repaired:

  • Frame appearance;
  • Broken glass;
  • Slots;
  • Small misalignments;
  • Local rotten areas;
  • Sagging sashes.

You will need tools and materials: chisels, planer, trowel, drill, level, sealant, varnish, putty, and paint.

Restoration is best done in the summertime when the weather is warm and dry. First, you should start with the inspection and identification of defects. To avoid missing anything, the frames can be removed from the box to check the integrity and reliability of connections and the level of the sides of the box.

The most common problem faced by owners of wooden windows is blowing as a consequence of freezing in winter.

The cause may be the following defects:

  1. Wood shrinkage and formation of gaps between the frame and the box;
  2. Leaking seams and joints between panes and frame elements.

Previously, for sealing cracks used regular absorbent cotton, but today you can buy high-quality and easy-to-install seals made of foam rubber and rubber. They have a self-adhesive base covered with protective film or paper.

To close the gaps with the sealants, remove the frames from the boxes, and glue the adjoining places around the contour. A strip of material should be glued to the edge of the crack is large. The open sashes are glued in the same way.

The gaps between the panes and the frame can be sealed with silicone sealant. To avoid glass rattling, it must be planted on aquarium glue.

Over time, the open parts of the window sag under its weight or swell, saturated with moisture. Because of this, the sashes can be hard to come into the frame or even stop closing. There can be two ways out of the situation:

  1. Knife off the top layers of wood;
  2. Tighten or relocate hinges.

The first option is suitable if there are no gaps and the sash fits tightly around the perimeter frame. Next, you can find the area that interferes with functionality visually. In this place on the shelf will be erased paint. Finally, cutting the wood from the sash into thin layers and checking how easily it goes into the opening is necessary.

The second option is used if a gap has formed. The hinges should be removed and installed a few millimeters higher to fix a large sag. It is also possible that the fastening of the hinges is simply loose, in which case you can tighten or replace the self-tapping screws. If the gap is small, you can try to put a thin wire on the hinge pins and hang the sash.

Other causes can impair the functionality of the sash, such as warping the frame or multiple layers of paint.

This is one of the most severe problems and requires significant restoration. Skewed windows compromise window function, create gaps and ruin the appearance.

A misalignment can be visually noticeable. You can use a spirit level if you can't see it externally. Even a slight difference can affect the quality of the window - a 2-3 mm gap will become a source of cold air and cause freezing.

The problem's solution must be cardinal - the frames should be dismantled, and the correct geometry should be restored. A simple and reliable method is to fix metal reinforcements in the corners. To do this, you must make notches in the frame so that the angle, after installation, does not protrude beyond the edge. Then, the same corners can be mounted on the sashes and wings. Finally, the frame without glass should be laid on an even board and align the diagonals to achieve the correct geometry.

If the dowels or "chops" (wooden nails at the junction of frame parts) are loose, they can be filled with glue. Before this, you also need to adjust the diagonals to equal values.

Sometimes dowels dry out and are freely pulled out of the groove. In this situation, it is better to make new, larger diameters and lubricate them with liquid nails before installation. To make "copies," you will need a core drill bit and a piece of solid wood.

To correct the geometry of the frame is not enough. It is possible that the sag and the box. You can change its position without dismantling, but only if the difference does not exceed 2 cm. To do this, you must determine the lowest point in the lower plane of the box and the highest at the top. It was focused on them scraping off "excess" on the level. The same should be done with the sides of the box. To control the shape of the opening, it is necessary to measure the diagonals and height and width at several points.

Inevitably the frame will become smaller than the opening. To adjust the dimensions, you need to install wooden slats of appropriate thickness around the perimeter.

Moisture is the first enemy of wood. Suppose the windows "cry" rotting is inevitable. Then, it is crucial to detect the defect in time to fix it without replacing the window.

To work, you will need to dismantle the frame or sash with the damaged area, remove the glass, and lay the product on a flat board:

  1. The damaged piece of wood should be sheared off or cut off, and a new part should be planted in its place.
  2. It must be carefully adjusted to size and secured with liquid nails or joinery glue.
  3. The surface should be smoothed, putty coated, sanded, and painted.

If everything is done accurately, the defect will not remain a trace.

Minor damages can be corrected with putty. It must be liberally applied to the damaged area until the lost volume is restored. The composition should be allowed to dry completely and give it the right shape.

Old wooden windows, as a rule, are covered with more than one layer of paint, which has become flaky and has leaks. Of course, you can not waste a lot of time cleaning what is falling off and applying another layer, but to make the window look like a new one, the old coating must be eradicated.

Before you begin the work, you must remove the frames from the box, the glass, and all the metal parts of the mechanisms.

There are three methods for cleaning the old paint:

The first is the most complex and time-consuming but does not require special tools and materials. The color can be removed by hand with a spatula, sandpaper, or a scraper. Although the method is not always practical, it is appropriate if the frames have a thick layer of paint, which is easily removed. Faster work will go with a grinder.

For thermal cleaning, a construction hair dryer is needed. It should be directed to the area of the frame, heated for a few minutes, and immediately removed the paint with a spatula. The generous coating comes off easily, with almost no residue. Areas where the color holds firmly, can be sanded with an emery cloth.

Chemical cleaning uses a special paint remover, but you can also use what you have on hand, such as kerosene.

For this method, the frames should be wrapped in rags, abundantly moistened with solvent, and packed in a plastic bag. Keep for a few days, after which you can clean the surface with a spatula from the softened paint. Wood after such treatment will not be immaculate, and you will need to remove the remains of the coating with a grinder or sandpaper.

The next step is puttying. This type of treatment is necessary to smooth out minor defects: cracks and irregularities. Before this procedure, it is recommended to remove burrs, shave off prominent parts and clean the surface of dust. The compound should be applied to as thin a layer as possible. Then dry and sand the wood well.

Before painting, it is necessary to protect the wood from deterioration. Olive or antiseptic can act as such a coating. It is needed to impregnate frames with them in several layers.

Paint can be applied after the protective coating has dried

You can check the readiness of oil by touching the frame; if the hand does not stick, the surface can be painted.

The application of fresh paint is the most crucial stage. Here much depends on the choice of material. Oil-based paint is best for windows. Although the samples on store shelves are made of synthetic components, their service life is short.

You need natural paint to keep your windows suitable for ten years. It can be made from a thick mineral pigment-based paint mixed with linseed or walnut oil.

It is more convenient to apply the coating with a thin brush. However, it is better to remove the glass so as not to stain it accidentally. Reinstalling the frames can be when the second coat of paint dries. It can also cover the sill, window sill, and interior window sill.

How to perform restoration of wooden window frames, including installation of seals, removing the old coatings, puttying, and painting, is shown in the video:

With proper care, the window restored with their hands will live for many years and delight with functionality and aesthetics.

In order not to bring the source of natural light in the apartment to a deplorable state, you need to look after the windows, namely:

  • Do not allow moisture to accumulate on the surface of the windows and window sill. Condensation can be caused not only by gaps in windows but also by flower pots, blinds, and heavy curtains;
  • Regularly clean the window and windows from dust and dirt with a soapy solution and a soft rag;
  • If a rubber cord is used as a seal, oil it twice a year to prevent it from drying out and cracking;
  • Lubricate and clean from dust and metal parts of the structure (hinges, locks);
  • Once in 10 years, it is recommended to remove paint from the frame and apply a new one;
  • If the glass is sealed with putty, the seam should be replaced as it deteriorates.

You can read about repairing plastic PVC windows here.

Do not rush to get rid of old wooden frames. If their basic properties and integrity are preserved, you can fix minor flaws and restore the exterior appeal. In doing so, the family budget will be well saved.

Before restoring wooden window frames, make sure they are subject to such work. You can quickly assess their condition by looking for holes left by insect pests, cracks in the wood, frame threading, and sash.

You should ensure that they have not disintegrated and, most importantly - not distorted. To do this, you can use a chisel and hammer. Then, with a light touch, you can check to see if the wood has decayed and if there is rot or damage from insect pests.

  • you can keep your home environmentally friendly;
  • the rooms will always have an optimal comfortable microclimate;
  • Wooden windows are often the main attraction of many homes, and restoration will allow you to use modern methods and materials to keep their appearance intact.
  • Significant cost savings.

In the operation of wooden window designs, their owners often have to deal with the following problems:

  1. A gap between the frame and the window frame.
  2. Problems with the surface coating.
  3. Skewed window sashes.
  4. Part of the sash or frame is rotting.
  5. Sashes closed tightly.

Defect 1: Insufficient sealing is one of the most acute problems. Such gaps are formed since wood is a material that easily yields deformations. In this case, the need to restore old wooden windows is due to constant draughts.

But it is easy enough to fix this problem. It is only necessary to install an additional seal.

Defect 2. Repairing old wooden windows will also be required in the case of stain or cracked paint deterioration. After a few years, the color on such constructions loses its original properties, regardless of its quality and price. However, it will be sufficient to refresh the paint to restore the window.

Defect 3. A topical problem, especially when it comes to solid board frames. The main reason for warping is the properties of wood to deformation under the influence of moisture or direct sunlight. Such distortion can be eliminated by adjusting the fittings. If there is no such possibility due to the technical peculiarities of the selected details, it would be necessary to change the hinges.

Defect 4. This is the most complex defect of wood, which cannot be eliminated. In the case of rotting, it will be necessary to change the window construction completely.

Defect 5. Quite a common problem during the operation of old wooden windows. To return their ability to close normally again, then first, it is worth checking whether the construction as a whole has not shrunk. If so, it is sufficient to adjust the sashes' height.

To reduce the work associated with repairing old wooden window frames, it is necessary to maintain their condition by treating them with special preparations periodically.

Sometimes, owners do not pay attention to this, and the windows are only suitable for replacement after a few years. Therefore, it is worth considering whether it is possible to find hardwood under a layer of old oil paint and with less effort and financial investment to extend the life of such structures.

The sash should be removed from its hinges and placed firmly on prepared supports before the repair begins. Around the window, it is worth putting, for example, the foil to protect neighboring objects from contamination. Then, ideally, just remove the glass.

New paint cannot be applied over old coats. Therefore, it is better to remove them but observe workplace safety because inattention can damage the glass.

Repairing old wooden windows - the preparatory stage

Before restoring old wooden windows, you will need to remove the old putty or sealing material that connects the glass to the window frame. Such elements are now made of more durable and aesthetic materials than a few years ago.

It is best to use acrylic. It is carefully applied to a surface cleaning of grease and dust, preferably with a finger moistened with water. Before applying paint, take care to protect the window hardware from contamination.

Please note that the clear lacquer coating should be renewed every 2-5 years and the paint every 5-8 years.

Restoration old window frames should be combined with repairing or replacing hinges and fasteners. A correct fit will ensure stability and tightness of the windows. Hinges are replaced with new ones, or only their fastening elements, bolts, and screws are replaced. Hinges should be treated with oil or undergo special preparation recommended by window manufacturers.

To properly restore wooden windows with your own hands, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • Paint stripper. This machine helps you remove the paint without damaging the surface of the frame;
  • sanding machine;
  • sandpaper;
  • shoemaker knife, which easily removes stale paint;
  • spatula, since the repair of wooden window frames, involves mandatory puttying to update the surface of the structure and sashes;
  • paint brushes;
  • chisels;
  • fittings, glass (this is in the case if you plan to change these elements);
  • varnish, paint, varnish;
  • primer;
  • putty;
  • Sealant.

It is essential to pay a little more attention to the choice of putty. You will need three types of putty for the work:

  1. Coarse-grained putty for window frames with wooden surfaces. It will be used to seal large cracks and other defects. The material is often used during the restoration of wooden doors.
  2. Fine-grained finish. Most often, the product is used to finish the interior of the premises. But it is also excellent for working with wood. The only point to keep in mind is the apt choice of color. The best option is white. It is better than beige and hides the defects that have been fixed in the future.
  3. Primer of deep penetration. The material is necessary to achieve a better combination of paint and putty.

Repairing old wood windows consists of several sequential steps

Let's consider them in more detail.

Step 1: Remove old paint.

This can be done in three ways:

Mechanical removal of old paint layers involves using a fine spatula, sandpaper, and sanding machines. Manual tools are also necessary, especially in corners, curves, and hard-to-reach places.

Layered or cracked paint films are not a suitable substrate for a new coat, so the first step is to remove them. The easiest way we can do it ourselves is to remove the old coating with a spatula. However, this requires the use of unique paint removal products.

Paint removal products can be found in every chemistry store. They are usually in the form of gel preparations, which are applied with a brush to the refinished surface with a thickness of up to 2-3 mm.

When choosing remedies for removing old coatings, it is necessary to prefer acid-free means. Otherwise, they react with the wood.

The agent should remain on the surface for up to 30 minutes, depending on the number of layers of the old coating removed. After a short interval, the product layer softens and can easily be removed with a spatula.

Another way to remove the old coating is to use a hair dryer according to specific practical tips. It allows you to direct hot air that removes the paint. This method is mainly used to protect the glass from heat. When bubbles appear on the frame, a trowel can be used to collect the color.

Step 2: Smoothing the wood surface

What happens when there are defects? Old windows may have deep scratches, blemishes, or even damage on the frame. Before painting, they need to be filled with unique wood putty. To apply the putty, use a special trowel with a rubber tip.

The mass is laid tightly in one layer. It should not be thicker than 4 mm. Therefore, if the cavity is more significant, in some cases, you will need more layers, which are applied after the hardening of the previous one.

Step 3: Sanding the surface

The next step is necessary to get a smooth surface for painting. Use sandpaper to sand the surface.

When the surface is smooth, it is thoroughly cleaned of dust, washed, and left to dry completely.

Step 4: Impregnating with olive oil

This is a rather old method but very effective. Although finding natural olive in the construction materials market is challenging today, the technology is still relevant.

Manufacturers offer a product from various synthetic derivatives, not from hemp and linseed oil, as in the old days. Olive has been superseded by good quality impregnations, the production of which is much more profitable.

To cover the surface of wooden window construction, you will need a special brush. The first layer is laid as impregnation, and the next two - are finished. Before proceeding, make sure that the surface is not sticky.

Step 5: Painting

What paint to paint the window frames? To preserve the pattern of wood fibers, varnish should be used. It is available in many colors and natural wood, and the surface gives a subtle shine.

But for window frame repair, the best coating is still paints, which will mask irregularities. Wood emulsions are available in many colors.

I remember that the paint should cover about 1 mm of glass. This way, a protective layer is formed to prevent water penetration between the glass and the putty.

If properly and regularly maintained, it positively affects the condition and significantly prolongs the life and durability of the preserved object. This applies to cars, clothing, televisions, and windows.

Regular care for the condition and cleanliness of the window and taking care of adequately selected protective measures will significantly extend their life.

Modern wooden windows in the factories of the manufacturer are treated with products that protect them from the harmful effects of external factors (sun, rain, air pollution). Therefore, repair of wooden EURO windows, and more precisely the paint coating, is recommended every 3 to 5 years - depending on the coating used (paint or varnish).

Cleaning and maintenance of the window frame require appropriate measures. Cleaning the wood with a diluted liquid mild dishwashing detergent is better.

Thus, you should remember that you should not spray the same products on the window frames and glass while cleaning the glass. Instead, any residue, even the smallest, should be removed from the shelf - rinse with water and wipe dry.

To prolong the life of the paint and keep its aesthetic appeal longer, it is good to use additional care products after washing the frame. They are applied to a cleaned and dried frame with a soft cloth or absorbent cotton. Do not use such products in bright sunlight or on a hot surface. The optimum temperature is 10-25 ° C.

Stan coverage should be checked regularly - at least twice a year (in spring and autumn), paying attention to the external condition of the surface frame.

Although modern manufacturers of wooden window structures try to protect their products as much as possible, the frame begins to absorb moisture from the environment after a month of operation without a protective paint coating.

Wooden windows are products that must be constantly taken care of to maintain their attractiveness.

If you do not follow the advice of experts and do not take care of the condition of these windows, then repairs can be costly. It is always better to make minor repairs to avoid trouble on a more severe scale.
